DEADLINE FOR VOCA GRANT SUBMISSION:

APRIL 20, 2021, 6:00 pm

The Utah Office for Victims of Crime (UOVC) has received funding from the USDOJ, Office for Victims of Crime, Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant program. VOCA is a federal pass through program developed to assist public and nonprofit organizations in providing direct service to crime victims. UOVC is requesting proposals beginning Tuesday, March 9, 2021 through Tuesday, April 20th 2021. Law enforcement agencies, city and county prosecution agencies, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies are encouraged to apply. VOCA funding can be acquired to provide direct services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child physical and sexual abuse, assault, elder abuse, family members of homicide victims, adults molested as children, DUI/DWI’s, robbery, and other crimes.

The 2021 VOCA grant program year will begin July 1, 2021 and end on June 30, 2023. This two year cycle will be treated as two separate grants which start and end with the state fiscal year. The Crime Victim Fund has experienced a drastic decrease in deposits, leaving us in a position to decrease funding to all agencies who currently receive VOCA funding. UOVC will award $23 million dollars for Year 1 and $19 million dollars for Year 2.  The 2021-2023 VOCA RFP is a competitive process.  Funding will be given to those organizations who can successfully demonstrate a program plan that meets the needs of crime victims in the following categories:

  • Legal Services Programs
  • Domestic Violence Programs
  • Sexual Assault Programs
  • Criminal Justice System Victim Advocacy Programs
  • Child Abuse and Treatment Programs
  • Programs that serve Underserved Populations

A limited amount of funding will be set aside for agencies that are new to VOCA to apply. Applications must be received no later than 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  For your information, a list of important dates is provided below.
