About Sofia Nystroem

Sofia provides broad technical support to the Research Division, working across different initiatives and projects. She has 12 years of experience designing advanced criminal justice program and policy evaluations to support fair and cost-effective outcomes. She has led and collaborated on research initiatives across the justice system, including criminal and juvenile justice reform efforts, sentencing policy, and identifying systemic racial and ethnic disparities and barriers to successful reentry. Sofia received a PhD in Economics with a concentration in Econometrics from the University of Utah in 2018 and completed course-work in data mining from their School of Computing in 2020.
