About Dan Strong

Dan is the Director of the Utah Sentencing Commission, which maintains the sentencing guidelines and advises the three branches of state government regarding criminal sentencing policy. 

Prior to being appointed in 2021, Dan worked for over ten years as a prosecutor at the city, state, and federal levels--most recently prosecuting human trafficking cases for the Utah Attorney General’s office. 

Earlier in his career, Dan spent some time on the other side of the aisle as a defense attorney. 

Dan is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley Law School and the University of Virginia.
