Niyo Aimable is a Contract/Grant Analyst at the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ), where he manages State Asset Forfeiture Grants, State Task Force Grants, and federal Justice Assistance Grants (JAG). He reviews reimbursement submissions, conducts site visits, and ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Before joining CCJJ, Niyo worked with several nonprofit organizations, focusing on community outreach, program development, and capacity building. Most recently, he served as a Small Business Counselor at the International Rescue Committee, helping refugee entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses. This experience deepened his commitment to empowering underserved communities.

Originally from Tanzania, Niyo has a strong belief in the power of education and is currently completing a degree in International Relations. He is passionate about supporting youth and is launching ‘’ Be Who You Needed ‘’, an initiative to connect young people who lack access or resources for a four-year college with alternatives like trade programs and vocational training opportunities they might not otherwise know about. The name reflects his own experience as a newcomer to the U.S., wishing he had someone to guide and mentor him through the system. Through this initiative, he hopes to be the support he once needed and to motivate young people to pursue meaningful paths for their futures.

Niyo volunteers as a youth mentor through Catholic Community Services, the same organization that helped resettle him. He credits his faith and family for his resilience and drive. He speaks Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, English, and conversational Swahili. Outside of work, he enjoys soccer and basketball, spending time with family, and training his nephews, Morgan and Mervin, on the soccer field.
