CCJJ Research unit
Our research staff have advanced technical degrees from the University of Utah and are responsible for conducting and coordinating research across Utah’s criminal and juvenile justice systems. One of our main focus is applying objective and robust research methods to evaluate the effectiveness of current criminal and juvenile justice policies and programs.
Our unit further evaluates outcomes of grant initiatives as administered within the CCJJ office and provides research support to all divisions that fall under the umbrella of CCJJ, which aids in policy discussions and drafting of legislation. Due to CCJJ’ unique position as a coordinating body for Utah’s justice system, we are in a favorable position to develop and coordinate research efforts using Utah specific data to answer relevant and pressing criminal and juvenile justice research questions. This ensures that current and sought after policies are based on sound data and research.
