Legislative Session
DOCJ serves as the hub for criminal and juvenile justice issues for the State of Utah while acting as a coordinating body for policy development. To facilitate this, we work closely with many partners, legislative committees and working groups throughout interim and during the general session. During the General Session, legislative discussions are held by the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ), Sentencing Commission, Victim Services Commission, and the Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee on all bills that may potentially impact the criminal or juvenile justice system. Official legislative positions from the CCJJ are forwarded to the legislature for their consideration.
