Van Nguyen is the Executive Director of Juvenile Justice and Initiatives for DOCJ. She leads the Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee in overseeing the implementation of the juvenile justice policies and for gathering and analyzing data that measures the impact of the policy changes at the state level. Beyond her policy work, she leads department-wide initiatives including strategic planning, performance evaluations, system changes, customer experience, and communications. 

Van immigrated from Vietnam to Salt Lake City with her family when she was four years old. A loyal student to the University of Utah, she received her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Psychology, Masters and Doctorate in Social Work.

Van’s love for research has no bounds. She loves researching new and different restaurants to eat at when off the clock. She is a huge foodie and boba fan.
