Juvenile Justice

Scientific research and the United States Supreme Court have acknowledged that juveniles are significantly different than adults and thus should be treated differently in the justice system. Delinquent behavior is a stage that most youth will outgrow; thus, one of the core principles of the juvenile justice system is rehabilitation. Here at DOCJ, we have the Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee, the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice, and the Racial and Ethnic Disparities Collaborative to advance policies and practices that promote a just and fair juvenile system.
