About Ken Matthews

Ken Matthews is the Deputy Director of CCJJ. He guides the implementation and administration of the agency’s budget, oversees statewide internal budget and policy initiatives, and provides general operational guidance and support to help the office’s daily functions.

Prior to joining the CCJJ staff in March of 2020, he served for nearly a decade as a budget and policy analyst for Governor’s budget offices in both Arizona in Utah.

Ken grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and has also spent time in California and upstate New York.

Ken is a graduate of the Maxwell School of Syracuse University where he earned his MPA, with an emphasis in public budgeting and environmental economics and policy.

In his spare time, Ken is an avid long-distance runner, snowboarder, and hiker. He and his wife love to venture into the outdoors to explore the west, with a particular love for the CA central coast. Ken is the proud father of two children, Blair and Kenny.
