About Sheena Yoon

Justice Evaluation and Analysis Researcher

Sheena Yoon serves as a Justice Evaluation and Analysis Researcher on CCJJ's research team, focusing on spatial analysis to investigate disparities within both juvenile and adult justice systems. Her research is driven by a passion for leveraging data to inform policy interventions and engage public agencies in fostering healthier, safer communities across Utah.

Sheena is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Utah’s Department of Economics and a former Research Assistant (federal contractor) for the National Institute of Justice (DOJ), working on topics related to policing and equity. Her professional background includes roles as a Junior Economist at the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland, and as an Information Designer at The World Bank. Sheena holds both a BA in International Studies and Economics and an MA in Economics from American University in Washington, D.C. Sheena was born and raised in Orange County, California.

Outside of research, Sheena is extremely passionate about strength training, spinning, kayaking, and hiking!
