About Sheena Yoon

Sheena Yoon is a Graduate Research Intern for CCJJ’s research team specializing in topics related to spatial analysis to understand disparities in both the juvenile and adult justice system. Her research passion lies in using data to inform policy interventions and to engage public agencies to help communities across Utah to thrive.

Sheena is currently a PhD student at the University of Utah’s Department of Economics and a Research Assistant (federal contractor) for the National Institute of Justice working on topics related to policing and equity. Previously, she was a Junior Economist at the U.N’s labor agency (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland and an Information Designer at The World Bank. She is a graduate from American University in Washington D.C. for both her BA (International Studies & Economics) and MA (Economics). Sheena was born and raised in Orange County, California. 

Outside of research, Sheena is extremely passionate about strength training, spinning, kayaking, and hiking!
